Christie Sides would do well to have the humility and accountability of Caitlin Clark. All I ever hear from Sides is how the players could've done better or how they came up short. I have coached basketball for over 25 years...I know for a fact that when a coach says motivating things and instills unconditional support players will surprise themselves at just how good they can be.
Coaches need to be hard on their players. Caitlin Clark wants to be coached hard. Your method works great with unskilled people just playing sports to have fun.
@@MaxxZimonick Fair enough but fundamentals are the same at every level including the pros. As for unskilled players, nurturing and developing them gives them the best shot at a future. I have a 75% championship record, my players were written off only to go on to succeed. Coaching hard is understandable, however coaching effectively requires making adjustments, strengthening fundamentals like blocking out, movement on offense, a review of the game should enlighten you to those deficiencies. That's what really makes this team incredible, they're winning with lots of easy areas to improve.
@@MaxxZimonick I just viewed a video and went back to watch the game again to check its accuracy. Now that I have...Christie Sides needs to go. She couldn't even coach unskilled people much less a generational player like Caitlin.
The rookie sensations have been a big part of the WNBA narrative this year. The other teams get asked abt C² a lot as well. It does seem an odd media obsession however.
Kind of ironic. Other players get annoyed when asked about Clark and fans are outraged, and now those same fans are annoyed with the media asking about Angel. Clark handled it well, as always. Credit to her.
The way Clark and Sides are answering shows they have not moved past their loss to the Lynx. You get the sense that Sides is frustrated more with the team's loss of composure than the actual loss. Meanwhile, Clark is all business and showing zero joy. Despite the playoff spot the Dream are vying for, Atlanta is not playing well. If tonight is a close, messy game, it's a sign the Fever are letting the noise distract them. They have to be united and mutually supportive to make the best of their playoff run.
She's the coach the loss is on her. She doesn't go to bat for her players with the refs, she doesn't call time outs when other teams go on runs, then during pressers she throws her team under the bus. Also the subbing was bad. This loss is on Christie Sides.
Coach of the month award is creating a lot of damage. She is way in over her head. Indiana Fever is regressing to the boring mid-court play system stablished by Sides. This method is killing the team morale. Mitchell is starting to play hero ball again, Wheeler is not passing the ball to Clark. Clark is visibly upset and frustrated. Boston has to constantly fight for every basket. Fegbenle is taking middle range shots which us not her forte, Samuelson is a defensive cone and a non-offensive threat. This system may work ocassionally for mid tier teams, but come the games with Aces, Lynx, Connecticut, etc it won't work. Fever will never reach their full potential until a new coach is brought with a system centered on Clark, quick transition, ball sharing. They stopped playing like that team that got us excited with a 7 - 1 record after the Olympics break. They need better defense and a good Power forward. The game with Atlanta is in the middle .We are losing by 4 and we might actually lose it or get a back and forth game. If we run with the CC system would be up by double digits. Mitchell would be making her point without so much effort, Boston too.
When more than half your team is under achieving,( and different players from night to night) perhaps it isn't a talent problem. Sides is a liability. I would love to hear what the players feedback will be once the owner grows a pair and moves her out.
I think CC’s honest enough in these that she’s not going to pretend that they’re fast friends or even that AR’s her favorite person, but I thought she was a little more generous than that when she complimented AR’s motor. Not just rebounding but motor too- effort.
I think she was just honestly being gracious toward Angel. Even when she called Diana Taurasi old without calling her old (she kept saying things about how Taurasi had been a great player for so many years 😂), I think she was just being straightforward. One of my closest friends is an Iowan; they are very honest and down-to-earth folks!
Players get tired from playing every other day. You’re not going to play defense efficiently every game. The offense can carry you if you stop playing to lose. Caitlin needs to shoot open shots when available and stop worrying so much about her teammates, especially in the 2nd halves of games. Last game Caitlin and Kelsey took way too many bad 2 point shots.
Enjoyable press conference up until 7:55 mark. What is wrong with her? You can bring out the best of them by positive attitude instead of constant negative spewing
Christy stop 🛑 talking about the team problem. Start talking about your problems instead. timeout, smith and Samuelson that on your ass you lost the game take responsibility!!! God dame …
I think Coach Sides is doing a great job, with a very young team developing the chemistry and instilling her O. She has had a learning curve just like the players and appears to be growing and by extension her team is growing. I listened to her post game and she never said "they" but "we" didn't do this or that. She took responsibility just like CC did so you guys need to quit hating on her. Coach Sides is the reason they're in the playoffs, her and the players she coaches. People need to quit "reacting" emotionally and start thinking objectively about things. On the defensive issue, The Lynx exposed a problem that has been going on since the outset of the season. That is perimeter defense. I only watch clips of the games but what stands out to me is Hull and Temi locking down on the opposing players but everyone else not so much. The Lynx may have done the Fever a favor by exposing this weakness prior to the playoffs. It might behoove them to watch film of the UCONN women's team's defense, in particular Christyn Williams and especially Nika Muhl's lockdown defense. Watch UCONN's defensive philosophy in which they smother other teams on the perimeter. I know Geno made an ass of himself dissing on CC but it doesn't change the fact that he is a genius with basketball. He demands defense or a player never sees playing time.
She stays up too late. Probably sleeps until noon most days. On game day, a lot of athletes rise early and then knockout out a quick nap 4-5 hours before game time. She prob just woke up and walked over to the gym
